Sr. Medical Informaticist

Yan Heras has over 10 years of experience in the healthcare and bioscience industry. Prior to joining Lantana Group, Yan worked on the design, development, and implementation of detailed clinical models and terminologies, and on the design of healthcare information system infrastructure at Intermountain Healthcare.  Yan is a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Biomedical Informatics at the University of Utah.  Yan’s research has focused on developing standard logical representation of genetic/genomic data using information models and controlled terminologies, specifically LOINC.

At Lantana Group, Yan has served as lead analyst on several quality measure projects, including the eMeasure development project with National Quality Forum (NQF).

• Seven years working in healthcare IT including clinical data modeling, terminologies, terminology services, clinical data repositories, decision support systems, HL7 interfaces, knowledge management systems, enterprise data warehouses, and various clinical applications
• In-depth knowledge and experience in implementing clinical data models that are tightly coupled with terminologies in a content- and knowledge-driven enterprise healthcare system
• Over 10 years of object-oriented software development using Java
• Vocabulary Facilitator, HL7 Clinical Genomics Work Group (2007 to 2008)
• CDA Release 2 Certified
