Rick Geimer’s background is in software architecture specializing in HL7’s Clinical Document Architecture (CDA) implementations, enterprise content management for clinical documentation, and web service standards used for healthcare interoperability.
As CTO, Rick provides oversight and sets technical direction for Lantana’s mission critical projects. He helped architect the Military Health System on the design and implementation of content management systems in support of the military’s electronic health record and diagnostic imaging initiatives. He provided oversight and technical direction for the National Cancer Institute’s (NCI) strategy for templated CDA for Case Report Forms; development and pilots for the National Healthcare Safety Network Healthcare Associated Infection (NHSN HAI) reporting for Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC); and architecture support and direction for various companies and organizations developing standards compliant healthcare IT systems. Rick innovated the online Clinical CDA Validator, now used widely across the healthcare industry for prototyping validation of standards compliance.

- Co-editor of HL7 Continuity of Care Document (CCD) and other specifications
