John King has over 20 years of experience in government contracting on multiple software engineering projects of national importance.  John has performed on major federal programs for the Department of Energy and the Department of Defense, as well as Justice programs at the state level.  He has provided his services and expertise to companies spanning the range from startups, to small privately held companies, up to large defense contractors.

John is a senior software engineer focusing more recently on clinical systems, bioinformatics, genomics, and healthcare IT.  He is highly motivated to design and build IT systems that improve people’s lives, especially patients, and he has a special interest in IT systems related to cancer research and treatment.

  • CDA Release 2 Certified and CDA Academy graduate
  • Proficient in modeling, architecting, and designing software systems,
  • Experienced hands on software developer current on all major development platforms (e.g., Java, .NET, Flex/Flash, HTML/jQuery, and XML-based technologies), focusing most recently on the Grails technology stack
  • Versed in all layers of a typical software application system, from User Interface (UI) development through business logic layers and algorithms to object-to-relational (ORM) mapping technologies and database development
  • Strong UML and object-oriented (OO) development philosophy, and although he could be accused of being a “code wonk,” he strives to never lose sight of the big picture and the human dimensions of a successful project
