Brett Marquard is an analyst specializing in the design and development of healthcare data exchanges.
He is currently the project lead on a Clinical Document Architecture (CDA) exchange between an Emergency Department and Electronic Health Record at Ministry Health Care; he is the primary author for the Health Story Progress Note project; and he is a Project Manager for International Health Terminology Standards Development Organization (IHTSDO).
He recently led a team developing a report for Assistant Secretary for Planning and Evaluation (ASPE) on Recommendations for Advancing Health Information Technology in Long Term and Post Acute Care Settings. In early 2010, Brett also worked on the National Quality Forum (NQF) eMeasure, Representation of the Health Quality Measure Format. He continues to support the work on the Healthcare Associated Infection (HAI) Reports project for the National Health Safety Network, recently through the Release 6 ballot at Health Level Seven (HL7).
- Expert in the HL7 Clinical Document Architecture (CDA), including the Quality Reporting Document Architecture (QRDA), Healthcare Information Technology Standards Panel (HITSP) components (e.g. C32), and the Integrating the Healthcare Enterprise (IHE) Patient Care Coordination Technical Framework Profiles
- Served as direct manager or advisor on the implementation of over 100 Health Level Seven (HL7) Version 2 exchanges
- Served as lead project manager for emerging HL7 Version 3 interface technology for a leading healthcare software vendor
- Facilitated development of Epic Care Elsewhere, a product to connect Epic Systems to outside organizations through the use of IHE-XDS
- Devised project plans, staffing recommendations, and specifications for successful interchanges between electronic healthcare records and third-party applications
